Dom, a Seattle native and creative, is an interior designer aiming to bring his passion for beautiful interiors with a focus on mental & physical health, ergonomics, and functionality to all spaces he creates. His motto? Design should be lived in. Learn more about Noir & Neutrals, his process, and his principles below.
Noir & neutrals opened for business in 2021 and is dedicated to helping each client fall in love with their revamped space designed for their mental & physical health, using services from contractors and artists of color, and helping the surrounding community.
Creating beautiful bespoke sustainable and functional interiors for your mental and physical health today and tomorrow through design and space, color, ergonomics, and functionality.
Through design, we use pieces and inspiration from our culture in the spaces we create; connecting clients to new artists, cultivating awareness, and building a community by creating opportunities and uplifting other creatives.
Noir & Neutrals isn't just about design. It's a community; a place showcasing we as BIPOC belong and are thriving.
We will accomplish this by:
Highlighting creative projects by other BIPOC creatives.
Connecting with other BIPOC on the Noir & Neutrals podcast about their creative and life journeys.
We are here to share and inspire. This is Noir & Neutrals.
Our Design Process
It all starts with a conversation. Being on the same page is imperative to our success. In a 1 hour consultation, we'll detail color scheme, measurements, vision, materials, have a walk-through, and much more.
Time to bring concept to reality! This is where the fun happens and we see how the pieces fit into the space.
After our consultation, we'll have a second conversation that'll include the introduction of contractors/artists, materials, a drawn or digital concept, further ideas, and revisions if necessary.
Once we sign off on the completion of the space, we're finalizing an agreement to promote better mental & physical health, sustainability, and to share the space with others.
Our Design Principles
Designing means more than simply creating a beautiful space. While it certainly incorporates visual appeal, designing will be done while keeping in mind our responsibility and willingness to create beautiful interiors for others' mental and physical health today and tomorrow through design and space, color, ergonomics, and functionality.
Through design, we will use pieces and inspiration from our culture in the spaces we create, connecting clients to new artists, cultivating awareness, and building a community by creating opportunities and uplifting other creatives.
To design means to celebrate creativity. To design means we have a duty to celebrate ourselves. To design, if we are not ourselves, the design will be lack luster. Through design, we will add value to others' lives.
We will use pieces made by those of color and they will be credited.
We will never be afraid to ask for help, partnership, or collaboration.
We must always design with the human body in mind.
Design must be authentic or it is not considered design.
Sustainability is a must.
Safety shall not be sacrificed for design.
